Vocations Crucifix

What is a Vocations Crucifix?
A Vocations Crucifix is a Crucifix that families in our parish commit to taking home for one week and praying around as a family every day of that week. By receiving the Crucifix, participants commit themselves to a week of prayer, once per day for vocations on behalf of our parish.

What is expected of a family to sign-up for a week with the Vocations Crucifix?
On the Sunday of your sign-up, you will come to the parish office between 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM to pick-up the box containing our Vocations Crucifix. Inside the box is a Crucifix and prayers which can be used to pray for an increase in vocations to the priesthood, religious life, married and single life. You will set the Crucifix up in your home in a safe place where you can pray as a family each day. At the end of your week, you will bring the box, containing the prayers and Crucifix, back to the parish office on Saturday between 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

How can you as an individual or family support this effort?
Participate by signing up to take home a Vocation Crucifix for one week and pray for children, teens, young adults and adults especially here in our church community, who are searching for God’s will in their lives and for discernment of the various vocations. How does God want us to serve him and His Church? Prayer will lead us to God’s call upon our lives. Faithful and persistent prayer is the greatest gift you can give to yourself and to others!

Through your prayers and participation in this program, we will begin to create and support a healthy culture of vocations here at St. Joseph, Husband of Mary. As a parish, let us not forget to pray for those children, teens, young adults and adults who are discerning a vocation. May our faithful and persistent prayers assist others to hear God’s will and respond.
